A SALUTATION BY THE MAYOR OF NOTO

Twenty-two years have elapsed, since, for the first time, the masters of Genzano came to Noto to give life to the first Flower Festival in Noto. In these years, the handed down experience has become tradition and custom.
The Flower Festival of Noto supplies the City with an unexpected tourist flow. The increasing flow of visitors, (hundreds of thousand in the last edition), must make the citizens proud of it and drive them to plan new proposals, other festivals inside the festival.
Today, even the masters have been surpassed, and the Flower Festival has bejewelled America. This has represented the official coronation of our art, not just as a copy, yet as an authentic expressive form.Now, a new space, a window, which will allow us, as time goes by, to export our products and culture, has been conquered. Thanks to the enthusiasm of this Administration, a window on the world has been opened.
The extraordinary public success and the approval of the media and the Minister of Foreign Affairs drive us to believe to have created the future to the Flower Festival of Noto. Both the two promoters and the flower masters, who have imparted lustre to the city, must be thanked. Noto has reached America.
The potential resouces of our festival across the ocean are immense, in terms of feedback image. The Flower Festival of Noto is, by now, a fixed event, rich in appointments, shows, assemblies, costume parades. Both the spendour and the economic life of the city revive.
